Steel frame buildings

Industrial units, workshops, warehouses, equestrian buildings and large storage sheds. One form puts your project in front of contractors who design, fabricate and erect steel frame buildings.

Projects we pass on

  • Industrial and commercial units, including mezzanine floors and office areas
  • Warehouses and storage buildings
  • Equestrian buildings: indoor arenas, American barn stables, hay stores
  • Vehicle and plant workshops
  • Self-storage and container covers

Supply only or design and build

Some contractors supply a kit frame and cladding for your own team to erect. Others handle design, planning drawings, groundworks and erection as one package. Tell us which you want on the quote form so we send you to the right businesses.

What affects the price

Floor area, clear span, eaves height, cladding specification (single skin or insulated composite panels), doors, rooflights, any crane or mezzanine loading, and groundworks. Commercial buildings need planning permission and building regulations approval, which a design-and-build contractor can usually manage for you.

Questions

What's the difference between a portal frame and a kit building?

A portal frame is engineered to your sizes and loads. A kit building comes in standard sizes and is usually cheaper and quicker, but less flexible.

Can I get finance for a steel building?

Many contractors work with asset finance or commercial lenders. Ask when they quote.
